SPECIAL: New speaker system with streaming features and wireless active subwoofer from JBL

January 15, 2022 (Philipp Kind) With the JBL 4305P, Harman Luxury Audio presents an active bookshelf speaker with high-resolution streaming and numerous other interfaces. Despite its compact dimensions, the first active monitor for end users is said to have a large number of patented JBL acoustic technologies, high flexibility and numerous functions. Both wired and wireless connectivity options are available for music lovers and content creators. View without speaker grille The fully self-contained speaker system has a total output of 300 watts RMS, a 192 kHz/24-bit D/A converter and six inputs for analogue and digital source devices. A bass contour control that can be activated is also on board. This can be used to compensate for acoustic differences when setting up and positioning the loudspeaker components. A line-level subwoofer output is also available for connecting an external active subwoofer. A streaming engine is also integrated into the JBL 4305P speaker system. Chromecast Built-in, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth audio are available here. In addition to the 3.5 mm analog input and optical digital inputs, an asynchronous USB slot is also integrated. The 4305P also features an analog input with a combination of XLR and 1/4-inch TRS phono connectors and an input sensitivity switch for use with balanced or unbalanced signals. This “prosumer-quality” input offers the option of using balanced XLR and 1⁄4-inch TRS (tip/ring/socket) connectors or unbalanced TS (tip/socket) connectors – for use in home studios for music, video and podcast creation. Front View Controls Rear The Studio Monitor system consists of a primary and secondary speaker with selectable left/right assignment. Controls are located on the main speaker on the front, here you can adjust volume, mute, input selection and Bluetooth pairing. All physical inputs are also installed on the “master” speaker. The system can be controlled not only directly on the device, but also with the Bluetooth handheld remote control. The JBL 4305P can also be integrated into the Google Home or Apple AirPlay ecosystem. If the connection between the speakers is wireless, an audio resolution of up to 96 kHz is available. When connected with the supplied 2m Digital Link cable, the resolution can be increased to 192 kHz. It is interesting that the system can also play MQA audio files and is Roon Ready certified. As with the larger models, JBL relies on the patented transducer technologies for exceptionally high acoustic performance. A 2410H-2 1-inch compression driver is used, which sits in the high-definition imaging horn. The manufacturer wants to achieve crystal-clear highs and lifelike dynamics with it. The woofer is a 5.25-inch fiber-composite driver operating in a dual-port front-firing bass-reflex configuration. Each transducer is driven by a Class D amplifier capable of delivering 25 watts to each compression driver and 125 watts to each woofer. The total power of the system is 300 watts RMS. Single view Single view without cover The 4305P’s cabinet is constructed of 3/4 inch MDF with internal bracing and finished with real wood veneer. The speakers are available in a natural walnut tone with a blue grille or classic black with a black grille. Harman is offering a 90-day trial of the high-definition streaming service Qobuz along with a curated playlist of tracks designed to highlight the amazing sound quality of the 4305P Studio Monitor System. The JBL 4305P Studio Monitor is expected to be available in stores from the first quarter of 2022. The suggested retail price will be announced at a later date.

JBL SUB80P active subwoofer

Also new is the active subwoofer JBL SUB80P with wireless connection and 400 watts of dynamic power. Here, too, the compact design and wireless flexibility play an elementary role, but the focus is also on maximum bass performance. The SUB80P is a down-firing subwoofer with an 8-inch chassis in a compact, closed housing. The integrated digital amplifier realizes 200 watts RMS with a dynamic power of 400 watts. Of course, the sub can be integrated into the audio system using a conventional cable, but a wireless 2.4 GHz transmitter is also included in the scope of delivery. On the back, the level can be adjusted using a rotary control, there is also a bypass switch for the crossover, phase switch, bass boost and automatic performance features. The left/right and LFE RCA inputs can also be found here. A 3.5mm 12 volt input can be used for external triggers. Available in a glossy black finish, the SUB80P includes the wireless transmitter module, transmitter power supply, LFE signal cable with RCA jack and 3.5mm 12V trigger cable as accessories. The JBL SUB80P will be available from Q1 2022, the RRP will be announced at a later date. Special: Philipp Kind
