New Windows 10 21H2 update launched in Release Preview Channel

Microsoft has released an update in the Release Preview Channel for Windows Insiders who are still using Windows 10. This is the preview for the optional update with bug fixes, which could be launched for all Windows 10 users as early as next week. This is a cumulative, non-security update without any innovations, which primarily contains bug fixes and improvements. The update KB5009596 for Windows 10 21H2 is distributed for Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The build number is 19044.1499. This is the February patch day bug fix preview. The update fixes both problems that arose after the most recent patch day and bugs that have been known for some time. The Windows team is testing various bug fixes and improvements with this update. These include, for example, problems with Group Policy, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and Outlook. Bugs related to the time display and remote desktop have also been addressed. So far, nothing has been reported about known problems with the preview.

The KB5009596 update could also start as a preview or optional update outside of the insider program as early as next week. At least the optional updates (formerly known as C updates) were last released early.

Many changes in the preview

The bug fixes contained therein will then be automatically distributed to all users via the automatic update function on Patch Day in February – provided that no further problems arise in connection with this. Anyone who would already benefit from the bug fixes can already obtain the update as an insider. However, Microsoft does not start the distribution in one fell swoop, as is the case with usual updates. The update is listed under the KB number KB5009596 and will be made available gradually. Information on this can be found in the Windows Blog.
