Samsung’s Unpacked event, which is expected for February 8, could not only be the stage for the Galaxy S22 series, but also serve to present the Galaxy Tab S8 series. This time, Samsung will add an Ultra version with a 14.6-inch display to the tablets. All versions have the new Snapdragon in common. WinFuture has been able to compile specifications and images of the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra. Accordingly, Samsung will expand the new tablet series with a third model. With a 14.6-inch OLED display, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra surpasses the already not small 12.9-inch iPad Pro (test). Samsung’s resolution of 2,960 × 1,848 pixels is similar to that of Apple, but distributed differently on the X and Y axes because Samsung uses the 16:10 format and Apple uses the 4:3 format. According to the report, the OLED panel gets up to 420 cd/m² and works at 120 Hz.
Galaxy Tab S8 without OLED display
The Galaxy Tab S8+ is said to have the same properties, except that it works with 2,800 × 1,752 pixels. Only the Galaxy Tab S8 uses an 11-inch LTPS TFT instead of an OLED panel with 2,560 × 1,600 pixels. In return, the brightness should be a bit higher at 500 cd/m². In addition, the 120 Hz are retained even in the smallest model.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for all three tablets
According to the information available to WinFuture, there is a tie for the rest of the technical equipment. For the processor, Samsung relies on Qualcomm and the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. 8 GB RAM and 128 or 256 GB storage with microSD expansion are offered for the Tab S8 and S8+, while the S8 Ultra also has a variant with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage received, which can also be expanded. All three models also have features such as USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 on board. Variants with 5G support will be available as an option. All three versions also offer two cameras, the S8 Ultra even has two at the front. In addition to touch operation, the S Pen stylus is again available on the tablets. When not in use, judging by the pictures, it can be attached to the side of the tablet or to the back. The Galaxy Tab S8 series will come with Android 12 and One UI 4.1 and is expected to start at around 700 euros.
