Unlike competitor Sony with the PS4, Microsoft has announced that production of the last-gen console Xbox One has been discontinued. Instead, they want to focus fully on the production of the new Xbox Series X and Series S.

Sony recently announced that production of the PS4 will continue until the end of 2022. With this, the company wants to at least somewhat offset the supply bottlenecks in PS5 production. As Cindy Walker, Senior Director of Xbox Console Product Marketing, has now stated to The Verge, Microsoft has been taking a much more ruthless course towards its Lastgen console for a long time.
