1984’s Spider-Man comic page fetches $3 million at auction

A comic costs a few euros or a few dollars in the kiosk. That’s not even remotely enough for the 1984 title “Secret Wars No. 8”. The auction house Heritage Auctions is auctioning off a single page for a sum of millions. It shows Spiderman in a black costume for the first time.
A single page from a comic book has fetched more than $3 million at auction in the United States. The original drawing of page number 25 by artist Mike Zeck from the 1984 superhero comic Secret Wars No. 8, which explores the origins of Spiderman’s costume, was reported to be worth around $3.4 million as of Thursday (approx 3 million euros) brought in, announced the auction house Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas. This is the most expensive comic book page ever auctioned. The auction house did not initially say who bought it. Also at the same auction, one of the few known remaining issues of the 1938 “Action Comics No. 1” about Superman was sold for around $3.2 million. This made it the second most expensive comic book ever to be auctioned – after “Amazing Fantasy No. 15” about Spider-Man, which was auctioned last year for 3.6 million dollars.
