"The Jennifers by New Jersey Author Jenny G. Perry Is Being Considered For Option By Star Actress"

New Jersey Author Jenny G. Perry's new novel, The Jennifers, is currently under serious consideration for option as a feature film by Mary-Louise Parker. Ms. Parker is best known for her award-winning role of Nancy Botwin, the harried, sometimes hapless suburban pot-growing mom on the hit HBO show, Weeds.
The film rights were offered to Parker through a personal connection at The Jennifers publishing representative at GLC Press.
"I really hope everything works out," says The Jennifers writer, Jenny G. Perry. "I can totally see that the book's story is perfect for her. She could really take it to an amazing level."
Mary-Louise Parker often plays loud, talkative women who know what they want. This was never more evident than in the role of Amy Gardner in the Emmy Award Winning NBC Series, The West Wing.
"It would really be fun watching Mary-Louise play Pink. I can't imagine who could do it better," says Perry.

Interview Quotes

ON WRITING A NOVEL:

"Along the way, I had to really believe in this dream that seemed impossible or way too big. I’d wonder, How will I be able to accomplish this? But I just kept going. I envisioned it, and as Dr. Wayne Dyer said that he did with his books, I made up a fake pink cover with a chandelier on it. I was lucky to have such a supportive family that cheered me on. My kids always believed in me and I felt determined to show them that you can go after your dreams."

THE PROCESS OF WRITING WHILE HAVING A FAMILY:

"When my husband was off, I’d go off and pop myself in front of the computer, ear buds in my ear, letting music fuel me, and would jump back into The Jennifers. I’d give myself permission to dream big and write my heart out, telling guilt it wasn’t welcome in the room."
"Just like many moms, you can often “should” yourself to death. I decided that whether I should be cleaning or whatever, I’d follow my heart and fulfill my dream. After I’d spend a few hours in the front of the screen I’d look tired and spacey, but my heart was happy. I love to write and knew if I didn’t let myself write, I wouldn’t be happy."

"Following your bliss, finding your purpose, and living your passion make for a truly fulfilling life. And it sure makes it easier on the days when I’m in full mom mode; when the kids are bickering, when I’m driving my minivan all over town, or when I am cleaning up tiny LEGO pieces. I really should have named my youngest son Tornado, because that’s what he makes my house look like."

ON OBSTACLES TO GETTING A BOOK PUBLISHED:

"You can’t think about not having enough contacts, or anything else that might stop you. With each query letter I mailed, I’d hold my breath. I’d do my research for another potential literary agent in the middle of juggling life and my four kids, and I’d wait. I’d stalk my email daily. I kept looking for signs from the Universe to lead me in the right direction."

"As months went on, I kept telling myself I would publish my novel somehow. I had to believe in me. One day I saw my friend Beth post something on Facebook about publishing; That you have to do the marketing on your own. You have to be able to sell yourself."

"Many times, I’d think in my head… I think I can, I think I can, I know I can. I truly felt like The Little Engine that Could. Luckily, my friends and family thought I could too. It really keeps you going when you hit the bumps in the road when you have people cheering you on."
